As the chew bag format is becoming more and more popular, it seems more companies are releasing more products. V2 Tobacco is one company that is releasing many chew bag releases. They've released quite a few under the Thunder label, but now they are releasing regular strength ones under the Offroad label. I think this is a great move, as the majority of chew bag products available are strong or extra strong. So, for people like me who like regular strength products, this is great news! For those who are new to "chewing tobacco"/"chew bags"/"Nordic Chew", I did an informative video on the differences between Swedish Snus and Nordic Chew. Honestly, there aren't many differences. It's basically the same product, but the tobacco is cut differently and it has a thicker portion material. I don't chew them; I just put them in my upper lip and use them like snus. V2 describes their chewing tobacco by saying "the tobacco leaves are heated and moistened with steam so they can be cut into smaller pieces. This is the process we use for both our Long Cut and Chewing Bag products. The tobacco for Thunder Chewing bags are pieces cut with a length of between 5 - 50 mm and a width of 0.6-0.8 mm." They say the portion bags are "specially designed to be chewed to release flavor and nicotine. It is made from a paper with a special weave which which is thicker and much stronger than the type of bag that snus is packed in." But again, I don't chew them, I just use them like snus.
Offroad Chew Bags: Frosted
The flavor description for Offroad Chew Bags: Frosted says, "Offroad Frosted Chew has a powerful flavor of spearmint, menthol and a rich lasting taste. This product has a regular sized pouch." These chew bags come in a 12 gram can with 21 portions, for 0.57 grams per portion. The nicotine content is 8mg/g (0.8%) which breaks down to 4.57mg/portion of nicotine.
The portions are dry to the touch, as is the tobacco inside. This product reminds me a lot of Offroad Frosted White Dry in many aspects, including aroma, taste, and portion material. When you open the can, the aroma that comes through is a mildly sweet spearmint aroma. When you put a portion in the lip, you’ll experience the familiar cooling sensation that comes with a mint snus. The portions are dryer than your average white portion, but the longer you have them in your lip the more comfortable they become. The taste is a mild, lightly sweet spearmint flavor. It’s a very gentle taste profile but still quite refreshing. There’s a light flavor of tobacco that I detect after I’ve had the portion in for 30 minutes or so. These seem to last quite a long time. I’ve had these in for anywhere between an hour to two hours. They seem to have the endurance that I notice in a white dry product. As far as chew bags go, this is a pretty good product. If you’ve had Offroad Frosted White Dry before, as I mentioned earlier this one reminds me a lot of that one. As far as the nicotine strength goes they feel to delivery the regular strength, even though they are lighter in nicotine level per portion.
Offroad Chew Bags: Original
The flavor description for Offroad Chew Bags: Original says, "Offroad Original Chew has a traditional tobacco flavor with hints of lemon and bergamot. This product has a regular sized pouch." These chew bags come in a 12 gram can with 20 portions for 0.6 gram portions. The nicotine content is 8mg/g (0.8%) for a total of 4.8mg/portion of nicotine.
The portions are dry to the touch, as is the tobacco inside. These remind me of the Offroad Gold White Dry in several ways, such as aroma, taste and portion material. When you open the can, the aroma that comes through is a bright, present smell of citrus with a touch of pepper in the background. The portions are rather dry when you put them in your lip, but as they get more moist they get to be more comfortable. The taste develops slowly, beginning with a mild taste of pepper and a mild taste of bergamot. As the flavor develops more you’ll notice the citrus flavor becomes more pronounced and a mild taste of tobacco mingles into the flavor profile in the background. There’s also a mild taste of pepper in the background. The citrus in the flavor isn’t too sour, nor is it too sweet. It’s a light, gentle taste of citrus and is quite pleasant. As I mentioned before, these product reminds me a lot of Offroad Gold White Dry. If you’ve had that one before, this one tastes very similar. These seem to last quite a long time. I’ve had these in for anywhere between an hour to two hours. They seem to have the endurance that I notice in a white dry product. As far as the nicotine strength goes they feel to delivery the regular strength, even though they are lighter in nicotine level per portion.
If you're interested in these products, a friend of mine got them for me from Northerner.com. If you're in the EU, Northerner has a wide range of chew bag/chewing tobacco products. If you can't get snus, chew bags are a great option!
