Oden's Mint (White Portion) - Review. 15 September 2016.

Review Updated:  27 June 2022

I was recently sorting videos into playlists at SnubieTV.com (our new home on Utreon) and realized of all the re-reviews and ratings I've done over the past few years, I haven't done a lot of Oden's Snus ones.  This week I'm going to work on that!  I'm starting with many regular strength GN Tobacco products (yes, they do make those), and today we're checking out Oden's Mint White Portion!  The product description for this one says, "A clear and slightly sweet mint flavor".  Each can weighs 20 grams and contains 20 portions, for 1 grams each.  The nicotine content is 9mg/g (0.9%), or 9mg/portion.  Also, when this product launched back in 2016, GNT said it contained real "mint crystals" and xylitol.  I'm not sure if that's still the case, however, and I don't notice xylitol listed on the bottom of the can.

When you open the can, there's a sharp, present aroma of mint with a big presence of menthol.  It has some sweetness to it, but it's not too sweet.  This one comes in a white portion, and yes, while GN Tobacco is known for their white dry format, they also make some white portion snus.  The portions are soft, and pretty comfortable under the lip.  Also, being a mint product, you'll encounter a cooling sensation in the lip.  The flavor on this one is pretty interesting.  It's a whole lot of menthol up front.  I'm not the biggest menthol fan, and this one has a LOT of it.  It's lightly sweet, and has a hint of mint behind the menthol explosion.  The nicotine level on this one feels about regular strength, and I find the flavor to last about an hour, on average.

Rating and Final Thoughts

GN Tobacco makes a lot of high nicotine products, but they also make some normal products, like this one.  I wanted to review a lot of these to help show some of the other side of GN Tobacco, with their more normal, humane products.  This one rated at 3.21/5.  Overall, a little above average.  However, the flavor sits a little below average for me.  For me, it's just too much menthol.  That really drags it down.  I don't usually mind a little menthol in the mix, but this one has way, way too much.  But, that's just me.  If you like menthol and mint, you may love it!
