An End To The US/Cuba Trade Embargo? - Updated 18 December 2014

News has been coming forth today about a possible end to the US/Cuba trade embargo that has been in effect since the Cold War. President Obama said, “Today, the United States of America is changing its relationship with the people of Cuba. Neither the American nor Cuban people are well served by a rigid policy that’s rooted in events that took place before most of us were born.”  I agree, it is silly for the US to continue this ridiculous trade embargo that has been going on since 1961.

What does this have to do with a website about snus? This may lead up to people in the US finally being able to get Cuban Snus without having to jump through hoops to get this delicious snus. Byron Anis, Byron Seniorita Mini, Byron Original Portion and Byron White Portion - all really tasty snus products, may finally be allowed to be sold into the US.  Also, for cigar smokers (myself included), we may be able to get Cuban cigars in the US, which is great news for tobacco lovers!

I haven't seen a timetable on this, but we'll be watching the news and updating this article as we hear more of this great news!

Update:  18 December 2014 - Some more news is coming forth and an update on what the US/Cuba negotiations are saying. The "easing" does relax things a bit and allow people to bring Cuban Cigars back into the US, but not many. And they still can't be sold stateside. This would probably mean Cuban Snus can't be sold into the US, but it does lead you to wonder if it can be imported into the US. I'm checking into this and finding out more information. NY Daily News says, "While the U.S.’s new policies on Cuba normalizes a traditionally tense relationship, there are still strict limits on tobacco and travel. Visitors will be allowed to bring back $100 worth of cigars — between one and six Cohibas — and won’t be allowed to sell them stateside. Tourism is still banned, although traveling for educational and family reasons will be easier."
