The day is finally upon us, and Zyn Ultra has arrived! I've been waiting since 2021 when they filed the PMTA to sell it in the US to see what this line was all about. And, I've been quite impressed! Today we have their Fresh Spearmint flavor to check out! I haven't seen these locally yet, so I copped mine in
Nicokick.com! The flavor description for this one says "
A bold rush of mint with a smooth, fresh finish". I have this one in the
9mg/pouch strength today. They also make an 11mg version, but I'm more partial to regular strength, personally. When it comes to mint flavors, I'm more partial to spearmint over peppermint, so I've been quite eager to try this one! Let's see what makes this one so "ultra", shall we?
Zyn Ultra Size Comparison
Zyn Ultra comes in a moist, slim, plump pouch. These are bigger than the old Zyn Dry. Zyn Ultra weighs 0.8g. The old Zyn Mini Dry weighs 0.4g. So these are twice as big in weight. These are also moist, and have a much softer pouch. A side piece of information, these are bigger than Velo Plus, too. Those weigh just 0.53g each. These are now some of the biggest pouches on the market on the US market. And, they're bigger than Swedish Zyn, which
now sits at 0.6g. Personally, I didn't really mess with the old Zyn Mini Dry much, just wasn't my thing. The pouches were too dry and didn't have much flavor to me, to be honest. Also, the pouch amount has increased, instead of 15 you now get 20 pouches per can. These are much,
much better. Now, let's review this one!
Opening the can, the aroma of this one is really, really nice. I pick up a smooth, sweet, fresh aroma of spearmint. The pouches are nice and plump, slim, soft, and moist! Honestly, some of the best pouches you'll find in the USA today. Under the lip, they feel nice against the gum, and yield a slight cooling sensation. The flavor on this one is really enjoyable. It has a slightly sweet, smooth, refreshing taste of spearmint. The nicotine release is also really comfortable on this one. It doesn't have a fast nicotine dump on it like Zyn dry does. It's a more steady, stable, comfortable release of nicotine. The flavor also lasts quite a while. I find it hangs out a good 40 to 45 minutes or so!
Rating and Final Thoughts
In the end, I gave this one a 3.75/5. Out of all the mint flavors, this is their best one. I am, of course, more partial to spearmint. But I found this one to be top notch. An incredible pouch, a great flavor, and a comfortable release of nicotine. If you're a mint lover, this is one you're going to enjoy!
