Alp Drifters is (finally) here! After their first run of these products was stolen in the Great Alp Pouch Heist, they are finally back with more! This is a limited edition, available on their site. One thing that is interesting about these is that they aren't made by their usual producers. These are made in Indonesia, instead of India. I've heard they're made by the folks that also make Juice Head, so the flavor combinations make a little more sense! Now, today I have all 5 flavors of the new Alp Drifters line, so let's dive into it and check these out, shall we?
The Pouches
The Pouches
Content-wise, in weight, it's the same. The can weighs 10 grams, and has 20 pouches, at 0.5 grams each. They're slim, and moderately soft. They do feel a bit more dry than the average Alp pouch. If you've ever had Juice Head before, they're a lot like those. These come in two different strengths. You can get them in 6mg or 12mg! This 12mg strength is a higher one for Alp, so something different! It does have a nice release, and feels to be decently strong, but not overly strong. Now for the fun part, let's review these!
Flavor Description: "Forget the heat, Blueberry Lemonade Ice is a private arctic retreat. Smooth and electric with a menthol finish that hits like an Alaskan hurricane".
My Review: Opening the can, the sweet aroma of blueberry comes through. There's also a light, citrusy hint of lemon. Under the lip, the blueberry/lemon flavor is pretty interesting. The fruity blueberry and citrusy lemon mix well. I don't taste a lot of mint in the flavor but do get a cooling sensation in the lip, so perhaps some added cooling agent. This one seems similar to the Juice Head Blueberry Lemon Mint I reviewed before!
Alp Drifters: Lemon Raspberry
Flavor Description: "Raspberry-flavored C4 for your upper lip. This Drifters flavor is a high-velocity collision between sour lemon and a deep berry finish, with a cool minty kick at the end".
My Review: In the aroma, I pick up a slight cooling presence, along with a raspberry aroma. Behind it, a little hint of lemon. In the flavor profile, it's an interesting blend. The raspberry flavor is fruity, and the lemon adds some nice citrusy tones. It's not super minty in taste, but does have some cooling essence to it. This one reminds me of the Juice Head Raspberry Lemon Mint I had not long ago!
Alp Drifters: Mango Freeze
Flavor Description: "Right after the tropical sun goes supernova in your lip, you'll be diving face-first into an ice-cold Alaskan glacier".
My Review: Opening the can, this one has a nice mango aroma that comes through. It's tropical, and has a little minty nature to it. Under the lip, the taste is great. I love the tropical mango flavor I pick up. It has a little cooling essence to it, but it's not super minty in the taste, which I appreciate it. I think this may be a new one, as I don't recall a Juice Head pouch with this flavor.
Alp Drifters: Island Peach
Flavor Description: "Enjoy a sun-ripened orchard getting slammed by a Caribbean hurricane. Island Peach hits your senses at full throttle with a tidal wave of tropical heat and a cool minty finish".
My Review: In the aroma, I pick up a mild peach character, and perhaps a little pineapple. In the lip, I get a little cooling essence, but it's not overly minty or anything. The peach flavor is mild, and enjoyable. And I think I pick up some pineapple, too. This one makes me think of the Juice Head Peach Pineapple Mint I had a while back.
Alp Drifters: Watermelon Kiwi Ice
Flavor Description: "A full blown tropical weather event in your upper lip. Welcome to the Arctic Amazon, brought to you by ALP Drifters, where the fruits come frosted".
My Review: Opening the can, I pick up a little watermelon scent. It's fruity, and lightly sweet. There is a little cooling essence to it, as well. Under the lip, I pick up a cooling sensation. It's not super minty in the flavor profile, but there is some refreshing notes to the body of the flavor. The watermelon flavor is what I pick up most, but there does appear to be a hint of kiwi. I don't recall a Juice Head pouch with a flavor like this one, so I suspect this one may be new to this line, too.
Rating and Final Thoughts
All in all, I found these to be pretty decent. I enjoyed Juice Head, so I found these to be pretty solid. Island Peach was a favorite, at 3.42/5. After that, Blueberry Lemon, Lemon Raspberry, and Mango Freeze tied it up at 3.25/5. And lastly, Watermelon Kiwi at 3.08/5. All in all, not bad, and good to see Alp thinking outside the box and trying new things!
If you want to try these, they're available on their site!
