Another new year, and another nicotine pouch line to review! 2026 is kicking off with a bang, it seems. Today, we have a pouch brand out of Sweden called Smögen. I checked out their website, and this is their brand background: "We develop nicotine products that capture the essence of Smögen and the unique environment and coastal lifestyle of Sweden's west coast. By combining carefully selected flavors inspired by the archipelago with a distinctive maritime design, we aim to create products that evoke the salty cliffs of Smögen and the roaring waves of the Skagerrak". Today we have three products to check out: West Coast Berries, Seabreeze Mint, and Stormy Licorice!
In terms of what they have in common:
The Pouch - Each can weighs 12 grams, and has 20 pouches, at 0.6g each. The pouches are slim, soft, and moderately moist. They also have a nice feel under the upper lip!
The Nicotine Strength - These sit at 13mg/g, which breaks down to 7.8mg/pouch, or regular strength. They all have a pretty moderate nicotine release to them, which comes on pretty quickly.
The Flavor Longevity - Standard lifespan, I note about 30-40 minutes of life with these.
Now, let's check the taste!
Flavor Description: "Our version of licorice pouches really tastes like licorice. Or more precisely, licorice root. If you have ever chewed on a licorice root, then you know what we are talking about. That is exactly what our Stormy Licorice pouches tastes like!"
My Review: If you like black licorice, this one nails it. In the aroma, it is straight up, salty, black licorice. The flavor is top notch. It has a sweetness to it that isn't too overdone. The black licorice flavor is quite clear, and up front. It's lightly salty, and has a beautiful flavor profile.
Smögen Seabreeze Mint
Flavor Description: "Just like the sea breeze, our mint pouches is experienced as “wonderfully cooling”. Our mint pouches tastes more like those mint pastilles you might have eaten when you were a child".
My Review: This one is a pretty pleasant mint. The mint aroma is smooth, but not overly sweet. To me, it's a mild, refreshing peppermint scent. The flavor profile is smooth, and well balanced. The peppermint flavor is clear, but not too in your face. It's pretty tasty stuff.
Smögen West Coast Berries
Flavor Description: "Our nicotine pouches called “Westcoast Berries” is an attempt to capture the berries of the west coast in a small can of nicotine pouches. A perfect mix of blackberries, blueberries and raspberries that all grow freely among the cliffs and reefs in the harsh nature of the Swedish west coast".
My Review: The berry aroma on this one is quite nice! I pick up raspberry, along with a subtle blueberry hint to it. It's sweet, and fresh, but not overly sweet. Flavor-wise, the sweet, fruity taste of berry is quite enjoyable. The raspberry/blueberry blend is mild, lightly sweet, and enjoyable!
Rating and Final Thoughts
The product quality on these, in terms of pouch feel, flavor and nicotine release, and flavor longevity, was all very impressive. That's what you get with products made in Sweden. But the flavors are very impressive. I've been reviewing a lot of American products, and I've missed the pure, beautiful flavors of Swedish nicotine pouches. They're present, enjoyable, and not overly sweet. Americans might not like the licorice one, and they may find the mint not sweet enough, but I think they'll like the berry flavor. But, if you're a pure flavor enthusiast like me, I think you'll enjoy all of these. Berry came out on top at 3.67/5, Licorice next at 3.5/5, and Mint last at 3.33/5. Pretty solid scores for this new range, and I think they did a great job!
