I've seen these online here and there, and I've been curious to try them out. I recently found them on Snussie.com, so I grabbed a can of each to check out. These are made by a company called The Habit Factory in Sweden, and they make Fix and Klint nicotine pouches. While these are made by The Habit Factory, they're made in their new factory in Finland. In 2023, they purchased the old Strengbergs factory. This factory has been around for a while. In the 90's, RJ Reynolds owned it, and Swedish Match owned it shortly after that before closing it in 1998. It was once one of the largest and most successful tobacco factories in Finland. Now, the Habit Factory bought it and make their nicotine pouches there. Today, we have their three new Strengbergs products to check out. Each can weighs 15g and has 20 pouches, weighing 0.75g each. The nicotine content is 16mg/g, which breaks down to 12mg/pouch.
Before we do some reviews, let's discuss what they have in common.
Before we do some reviews, let's discuss what they have in common.
Commonalities:
The Pouch - Most nicotine pouches are slim, but with Strengbergs they all come up in the plump, full size! They're soft, and moist.
The Nicotine Strength - These all feel to deliver about the strong level.
The Flavor Longevity - The flavor longevity on all these is between 35 and 45 minutes.
Now, let's discuss their differences: aroma and flavor!
Flavor Description: "A taste of bold tobacco and licorice"
Review: Opening the can, I pick up this smell that I can only describe as "musty". There's a light tone of licorice behind it. In the flavor, I pick up that same musty tone, along with a light saltiness and a mild character of black licorice.
Flavor Description: "A strong tobacco flavor"
Review: When I open the can of Original, it has that same musty flavor to it. I'm thinking that's the added "tobacco" flavor that used in each one of these. It's slightly sweet, and has some wood notes to it. In the flavor, I can get that they were going for a tobacco-esque flavor, but it didn't come across very well. it has that same musty type of flavor to it that I got in the aroma. It's slightly spicy, a little sweet, and slightly woodsy.
Strengbergs Mint / Minttu
Flavor Description: "A taste of rich tobacco and mint"
Review: This one has an interesting aroma. It's a light balance of peppermint and menthol. It has that light musty tone to it, but it's more in the background than the other two. In the flavor profile, I pick up that musty tone more than I got in the aroma. The mint is mild, and seems to be an even balance of menthol and peppermint. But man, that musty tone, it's just hard to get past that one.
Rating and Final Thoughts
I have to be honest, I couldn't get into these. The cans looked great, I liked how plump the pouches were, the nicotine delivery was comfortable, and the flavor longevity was on par with others I've had before. But that weird musty aroma and flavor, which I'm assuming is from the tobacco flavor they used, just didn't work for me. Mint had it the least, so I rated it at 3.04/5. Original had it, but it worked okay-ish, 2.79/5. And Salmiak just below that at 2.71/5. If you like new products, you may like these. I think Klint is solid. I also think Fix is good. But Habit Factory's Strengbergs like is going to get a pass from me.
