Fiedler & Lundgren Recalling 12 Snus Products - 20 December 2024.

I read this today, via svt.se.  For those who can't read Swedish, I'll provide a quick Google translate: "Snus manufacturer British American Tobacco Sweden AB is recalling twelve snus varieties. The background is that they have been found to contain excessive levels of the substance benzo(a)pyrene. The substance that the snus varieties were found to contain in excessive amounts is benzo(a)pyrene, which the Swedish Food Agency, citing the WHO, classifies as carcinogenic. Benzo(a)pyrene is part of the group of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and is a group of several hundred compounds that are formed when organic materials are heated or incompletely burned. According to the Swedish Food Agency, food and air pollution, in addition to smoking and snus, are the most common sources of substances included in the group. The announcement of the recall of snus for levels of benzo(a)pyrene that exceed the limit value is the second in a short time from British American Tobacco Sweden.  Consumers who purchased products manufactured within the time frame are asked to stop using the products, according to a press release from the company. On December 12, the company recalled the product Granit Original White Portion Large, which was manufactured between May 30 and November 10 this year".

So, go check your cans!  If you're like me and in the US and order online, I'm not sure what this means for us.  Contact the e-store you ordered from and see what their plan is regarding this.  The PDF says this:  "Consumers are instead asked to: - dispose of the respective product and/or contact British American Tobacco Sweden AB directly via info@moor.se or +46771-880000 for a refund or a replacement product."  So I'm not sure if that applies to US consumers or just Swedish ones.

Updates:
SnusMe.com E-Store:  They say to email them your order number and a photo of the bottom of the can and you will receive a refund.
