Göteborgs Rapé Andra Långgatan - Snus Review. 17 November 2024.

As we have seen each year for the past several years, Swedish Match has brought forth another limited edition GR product! This is another one with a beer-inspired flavor, following up on 2016's GR Humle (which returned in 2021), as well as 2021's GR West Coast IPA.  Now, we have another one, called Andra Långgatan.  From what I read online, this is a street in Göteborg, Sweden, known for restaurants and bars.  Apparently it's a 'hipster' scene.  I don't recall if I visited it when I was in Sweden, but apparently it's quite the spot.  Now, a snus has been brought forth that draws inspiration from that scene.  While I gave up alcohol earlier this year, I am partial to non-alcoholic beers, particularly Athletic's Run Wild IPA.  I'll be enjoying that beer with this snus today as I write this review.

The flavor description for this one says "a light tobacco character with taste of mango and hops".  Each can weighs 21.6 grams and has 24 portions, for 0.9 gram portions.  The nicotine content is 8mg/g, which breaks down to 7.2mg/portion.

Alright, I'm ready, let's check it out!  Opening up the can, I encounter tropical notes of mango and pineapple.  It seems slightly sweet, and has a subtle herbal undertone with a hoppy nature.  The portions are the regular white portion format.  I'm bummed they didn't do the spider-web portion like they did with 2021's GR IPA.  The flavor is quite good.  It does remind me of the 2021 IPA release.  The taste is tropical, with notes of mango, pineapple, and citrus.  It has hoppy undertones, and some light herbal notes.  The tobacco character is gentle, and mild.  It also has a light sweetness to it.  To compare it to 2021, this one doesn't seem as tart or citrusy with the grapefruit notes I noticed in that one.  This one seems more on the tropical end.  The nicotine strength on this one is right at the regular level with a steady delivery.  The flavor lasts up to about an hour, on average!

Rating and Final Thoughts

In the end, this one rated at 4.17/5.  That's slightly lower than 2021's GR IPA, which rated at 4.42/5.  Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this snus.  And I'll be buying more.  I have one can left of 2021's GR IPA, so I'll be grabbing a ton of these for the freezer.  I liked 2021 more because of the portion material.  I liked that one being more citrusy, but this one is still good even if doesn't have that tart citrus nature of the other one.  It's a really enjoyable snus, and has a great flavor.  It also pairs very well with an NA IPA, so I give it high marks for being great on its own, but also for pairing!  Definitely check it out if you haven't ordered any yet.
