About a year ago, AG Snus was acquired by Phillip Morris International. I was waiting to do new reviews of Kapten products to see if PMI would keep them in production, but they recently relaunched with a new design, so it appears the Kapten brand will continue after the PMI acquisition. Kapten originally launched in 2015, produced by AG Snus in Denmark, which has four generations of snus production going all the way back to 1864. According to a price comparison on Snusbolaget, Kapten is the most value-conscious brand on the market, priced below other budget brands such as LD, Granit, and Knox. Today, we're checking out Kapten Original Portion! The flavor description for this one says, a "tobacco character with floral notes, citrus, and pepper". Each can weighs 18 grams and has 20 portions, for 0.9g each. The nicotine content is 8mg/g (0.8%), or 7.2mg/portion.
When you open the can, the aroma that comes through is a traditional snus aroma. There are floral notes up front, along with a presence of bergamot. There's a mild tobacco base, and a touch of pepper. The pouches are interesting. They have moist contents, but they're not as moist on the outside. They're nice and plump, and pretty soft to the touch. In the flavor profile I notice a present taste of bergamot, with some tea-like essence to it. There's a light touch of pepper, along with some floral hints. The base tobacco is earthy, and mild. It's very much the traditional snus flavor, but with some added floral notes to pick up the mix. In the strength, it feels to be about regular. The flavor lasts about 50-60 minutes, on average.

Rating and Final Thoughts
This product is honestly pretty tasty. For the price, it definitely doesn't taste like a 'cheap' or 'budget' snus. It has a pretty high quality to it. I rated this one at 3.89/5. Honestly, I find this one to be better than Granit and Knox. Not quite as good as LD, but I would put it in the upper tier of the budget snus category. If you're a price-conscious snuser and like the traditional snus flavor, you may enjoy this one!
