I was recently browsing SnusMe.com and found these new nicotine pouches: Apres. I know, doesn't it seem like every day there's a new nicotine pouch brand popping up? This category is rapidly taking over the smokeless/nicotine market, that's for sure. As a snus guy, it's sad to see. But, for those who like this sort of thing, it must be an exciting time. According to their website, this is a new, premium brand from Stockholm, Sweden. They say they have unique/refined flavors in a timeless design, which "radiate innovation, beauty, and quality". Each can weighs in at 13g, and has 20 portions, for 0.65g each. The nicotine content is 10mg/g (1.0%), or 6.5mg/portion. These products have a lot in common, so I'm going to cover the similarities first, and then we'll get into the reviews and talk about aroma and flavors.
Commonalities/Similarities
Portions - All the portions are soft and silky, but need some fluffing. They are semi-moist, and pretty comfortable under the lip.
Nicotine - All of these feel to be just a little below the regular strength mark.
Flavor Longevity - They all tend to last between 40-50 minutes, on average.
Now, let's get into the review!
Flavor Description: "This one will immediately become your new favourite. A taste that promises the nostalgia of Cola that we all know and love. Quite simply the sensory experience you will never want to end."
Review: When you open the can, a present, natural, sweet aroma of cola greets you. It has a light and refreshing presence to it. In the lip, I notice a light cooling presence when I put the pouch in. The flavor is a smooth, natural, sweet taste of cola. It has a cooling/refreshing component to it which enhances the cola flavor.
Après Nicotine Pouches: Lemon
Flavor Description: "Developed to capture the feeling of a lemon, freshly picked from the fields of Argentina. An intense, fresh scent directly upon opening, with a sensory explosion that gives you the perfect blend of sweet and sour."
Review: This one has a mild, balanced, lightly tart aroma of lemon. In the lip, I encounter a cooling sensation when I put a pouch in. As far as the taste goes, it's a pretty gentle taste of lemon. It's lightly tart, with a subtle sweetness and a faint hint of menthol.
Après Nicotine Pouches: Mentol (Menthol)
Flavor Description: "A menthol that soars and leaves a fresh feeling upon your nose and lips. Pop the lid, lean back and enjoy the force from the mountains of Zermatt."
Review: This one has a subtle menthol aroma with a nice sweetness to it. In the aroma and the flavor, it isn't overly medicinal, and tastes more balanced and nuanced than other menthol products I've had before. In the lip, I notice a nice cooling presence with these as well. The flavor is pretty mild, and the menthol comes through in a gentle, balanced way. It has a nice, sweet character to it that balances out the menthol flavor.
Après Nicotine Pouches: Mint
Flavor Description: "Tastes just as a Mint should taste. Sweet, fresh and with a hint of peppermint that lends you a lasting feeling of vigor."
Review: Of course, there would be a mint flavor. It seems like there's a bajillion+fifty of these out there and more coming out almost daily. In the aroma, this one has a subtle, mild, lightly sweet smell of peppermint. There's a cooling presence in the lip, which is common of most mint products. In the flavor, I pick up a milder taste of peppermint, along with a hint of menthol. It also has a subtle, light sweetness.
Rating and Final Thoughts
These products are pretty solid. They have a minimalistic can design, a decent flavor longevity, and a pretty steady nicotine delivery. It came down to flavor as to how they ranked, with Cola coming out on top at 3/5. Lemon came in next at 2.92/5, then Mint at 2.75/5, followed by Menthol at 2.67/5. There's so many brands of nicotine pouches nowadays, it's hard to recommend them or say who would like this. With most of my nicotine pouch reviews, I end them by saying if you like nicotine pouches and want to try something new, here you go. There's so many brands out there it ultimately comes down to personal preference. These are decent though, if you're looking for a new brand to check out.
These are available at SnusMe.com!
