Empire of Snus Nicotine Pouches - Review. 11 April 2021.

I recently stumbled across a new company in Switzerland called "Empire of Snus".  I saw their page on Instagram, and was really interested in their products, mainly because they have some of the coolest looking cans on the market.  Also, it's important to note that they don't make snus, they make nicotine pouches.  I'm not sure what the name means, or if they will eventually make snus, but they call themselves Empire of Snus, so we'll see.   According to their website, they're the "first tobacco-free, all white snus produced in Switzerland".  Apparently, they spent the past three years working on development of this product.  Each can weighs 11 grams, and has 20 pouches, weighing 0.55g each.  The nicotine content is said to be 6mg/pouch, which means total nicotine would fall around 10.91mg/g.  In this review, I'll be covering three of their products:  Orange, Blueberry, and Mint!

Before we get into the review, I want to, again, note how awesome these cans are.  They're square-ish shaped metal cans, and they slide open to reveal the portions inside.  If anything, these products are worth buying simply for how awesome the cans are.  And, being metal, they're reusable, too!

EOS: Orange (Nicotine Pouches)

Flavor Description:  "The unimaginable interaction in this creation of orange and nicotine evokes the Dolce Vita in you."

Review:  When you open the can, you’ll notice a subtle smell of orange.  The pouches are like slim US Zyn portions.  They’re quite dry, but do get more comfortable as they get more moist.  The flavor is a pretty mild, tart flavor of orange.  It’s not overly sweet, either.  The nicotine feels to be around the regular strength level, and I find the flavor lasts about 35-45 minutes, on average.

EOS: Mint (Nicotine Pouches)

Flavor Description:  "The combination of mint and nicotine gives the taste of this pouch a freshness and lightness that enlivens you all day."

Review:  The portions, strength, and flavor longevity are the same on this one.  The only main differences are the aroma and flavor.  The aroma is a fresh, lightly sweet aroma of peppermint.  In the flavor, it’s a pretty clear peppermint taste.  It’s subtle in nature, on the sweeter side, and pretty refreshing!

EOS: Blueberry (Nicotine Pouches)

Flavor Description:  "Enjoy the taste of fresh blueberries flowing out of this pouch. Combined with nicotine, the pouch gives a stimulating, fruity feeling."

Review:    The portions, strength, and flavor longevity are the same on this one.  The only main differences are the aroma and flavor.  This one has a mild blueberry smell to it, along with a floral presence, and a subtle sweetness.  In the flavor, the blueberry is milder in nature.  It’s sweet, but not overly sweet.  It also seems to have a subtle floral hint to it that reminds me a little of rose.

Rating and Final Thoughts

So, I'll start with the high notes.  I really dig the cans; they're some of the most sleek cans out there.  The strengths are steady, and at the regular level.  The flavor longevity isn't too bad as well.  The low points for me are that the flavors are a little mild, and the pouches are quite dry.  I wish they were more comfortable, honestly.  To rank the three, Blueberry was my favorite, at 3.25/5.  Next, Orange came in at 3.17/5, and then Mint at 3.08/5.  They aren't bad, for this company's first release.  I'm definitely interested to see what comes from them in the future.  If you're interested, you can check out their website, here.
