Shiro Licorice (Nicotine Pouches) - Review (Discontinued). 16 March 2021.

NOTE:  This product has been discontinued and is no longer for sale.  The Shiro line was rebranded/relaunched in 2022.

AG Snus has launched the 8th product in their Shiro Nicotine Pouch lineup, this one with the flavor of licorice!  Shiro, is the Japanese word for "white".  This being an "all white" nicotine pouch, the name makes sense!  There aren't a ton of licorice flavored nicotine pouches out there, so this is a welcome change of pace from all the mint ones I review.  The flavor description for this one says, "A taste of sweet licorice".  Each can weighs 12g, and I counted 28 portions in it.  I'm not sure if that's normal or not.  But, that would mean each portion weighs 0.43g.  The nicotine content is 16mg/g (1.6%).  With 0.43g portions that would be 6.88mg/portion.

When you open the can, you're greeted with the familiar aroma of black licorice.  It's a milder licorice, and is slightly sweet.  The portions are lighter in weight, a little dryer to the touch, but still pretty comfortable.  They also have a moderate softness to them.  In terms of the flavor it is, of course, licorice.  It's a mild licorice taste, like in the aroma.  It has a light sweetness to it, but it's not too overly sweet.  I find the flavor profile to be pretty well balanced.  It's also not too salty.  The nicotine is a little stronger than regular, but not too overly strong.  I'd place it at the strong level.  In terms of flavor longevity, usually it kicks around for about 30-40 minutes on average, so a little less than the usual amount of time.

Rating and Final Thoughts

I rated this one at 2.67 out of 5.  It's not bad, but not great.  I'd say it's about average for me.  I wish the portions were a little more plump, and I wish the flavor lasted a little longer.  But, the taste on this one was pretty solid.  If you're a nicotine pouch lover looking for something with a licorice flavor, you may enjoy this one!
