Bravus Oatmeal Stout (Non Alcoholic Beer) Review. 4 February 2021.

Today, I am going to be reviewing another non-alcoholic beer by Bravus Brewing in Newport Beach, California.  This is Bravus Oatmeal Stout!  And yes, for those who know me, I'm not the biggest fan of stouts.  I'm more of an IPA/pale ale kinda guy.  But, since I've been exploring this new world of non alcoholic beer, it means trying it all!  The flavor description for this NA beer says "This delicious oatmeal stout has a wonderful mouth feel and a velvety head.  The undertones of chocolate and caramel give way to a slight roasted coffee finish. Absolutely delightful!"  The ABV is listed as <0.5%.  I couldn't find an IBU for it, however, so I'm going to list it as "unknown" for now.

I really dig the can design on this one, it has a nice black color and some oat graphics.  When you open the can and pour it into a glass, you'll notice it's a very dark black color.  Like, black like soda or coffee.  It has a medium amount of carbonation and head when poured.  In the aroma, there is a lot going on.  I pick up dark malt, oats, and brown sugar.  There are hints of toast grain, along with chocolate and coffee.  In the mouth, it's a light to medium feel with a medium amount of carbonation.  In the flavor, I pick up caramel, chocolate, and roasted malt and barley.  There's a smooth oat flavor, along with a light hoppy bitterness and a hint of mocha.  In the finish, it's light and has a thin finish.

Rating and Final Thoughts

Okay, so as I said before, I'm not a stout person.  So my rating will probably reflect that.  I gave it a 2.66 out of 5.  Yes, that is a low score.  But again, I'm more of an IPA or pale ale guy.  However, I will say this, it's an incredibly complex, flavorful beer.  If you like stouts, this is one you'll probably enjoy and want to check out.  While it's not one that is personally for me, lovers of stouts will dig it.  Check out their website - Bravus.com.
