Lips (Nicotine Pouches) - Review. 18 January 2021.

I've seen these on social media here and there, and I've had some people ask me to review them.  I thought the can designs were kinda hokey, so I didn't have much interest in reviewing them.  But, once I get enough requests for something I'll usually sit down and give it a try.  I recently did an order with Nic Pouch UK, a UK based e-store, and grabbed some of these to try.  Now, as you read this review, fire up this song by Kiss, "Lick It Up", and it provides a great soundtrack to the review.  As far as the can contents go, these are both at 16 grams, and contain 20 portions, for 0.8 gram portions.  The nicointe content for both is 16mg/g (1.6%), or 12.8mg/portion.

Lips Strawberry (Nicotine Pouches)

Flavor Description:  "LIPS - Strawberry tastes of strawberry candy."

Review:  When you open the can, you’ll notice this one has a pretty sweet smell of strawberry.  The portions are slim, semi-dry, but moderately soft.  They’re pretty comfortable under the lip, just a little dryer.  The flavor is a present taste of strawberry, but it is a little on the sweeter side.  The nicotine strength feels a little above regular strength, but it’s not too terribly strong.  In terms of longevity, usually I can keep these in for around 40-45 minutes.

Lips Original (Nicotine Pouches)

Flavor Description:  "LIPS - Original has a fantastic taste of cherry candy. The taste is a mix between Haribo "Happy Cherry" gummy candy and cherry cola."

Review:  Going into this one, I was pretty excited one I read that flavor description.  I’ve been wanting to make a cherry/cola snus for a while, so the flavor of this one intrigued me.  In terms of aroma, it’s a sweet, fruity, cherry smell.  I didn’t pick up cola in the aroma, so I was a little bummed at first.  The portions are slim, semi-dry, and moderately soft, but comfortable under the lip.  In the flavor, there’s a pretty nice taste of cherry, it’s semi-sweet in nature, and comes through clearly.  I picked up a splash of cola in the background, which was relieving, because I really wanted it to taste like cherry cola.  The two mixed quite well together.  The strength on this one also feels a little above regular strength, but not too terribly strong.  The flavor lasts, on average, about 40-45 minutes.

Rating and Final Thoughts

I enjoyed both of these.  The strawberry one I rated at 3.04/5.  It was pretty decent, but a little on the sweeter side for me.  I rated the original at 3.29/5.  That one was my favorite of the two.  It was a little sweet, but I enjoyed the cola/cherry flavor profile.  If you like nicotine pouches, I'd definitely suggest checking out the original one.  That was my favorite of the two.
