Shiro Cuba Libre (Nicotine Pouches) - Review (Discontinued). 4 October 2020.

NOTE:  This product has been discontinued and is no longer for sale.  The Shiro line was rebranded/relaunched in 2022.

AG Snus in Denmark has recently released three new Shiro products, each with a distinctive alcohol flavor scheme: Shiro Piña Colada, Shiro Cuba Libre, and Shiro Mojito! Today, we're going to be talking about the Cuba Libre version!  First, if you're not familiar with nicotine pouches, they're a relatively new trend that has taken the market by storm.  These products contain nicotine, but are completely free from tobacco.  AG Snus says that Shiro is made of "pure plant fiber".  And the name, Shiro, is Japanese for "white", which makes sense - as this is an all white product.  The flavor description for this product says it has a "fresh and rich taste of cola with a light sweetness and a sour, fresh hint of lime".  If you aren't familiar with a Cuba Libre, it's a simple drink - rum and cola!  Each can weighs 12g and has 24 portions, for 0.5g portions. The nicotine strength is 12mg/g (1.2%) or 6mg/portion.

If you've read my reviews long, you know how much I love cola flavored products.  I don't drink hard liquor anymore, but I used to love rum when I did.  It was one of my favorite vacation drinks - rum and cola!  When you open the can, the aroma that greets you is quite mild.  There's a gentle presence of rum, and a faint hint of cola.  The portions are slim, moderately soft, but rather light in terms of weight.  The flavor is quite faint.  There's a very light taste of rum, and a subtle hint of cola.  It's nowhere near as bold as I hoped it would be.  The nicotine strength feels a little less strong than regular strength, and the flavor lasts about 30-40 minutes on average.  All in all, it wasn't what I hoped it would be, sadly.

Rating:
Packaging - 3/5 - A good looking, clean design to the can.
Aroma - 1.5/5 - The aroma is faint, and not too present.
Portion/Mouthfeel - 2/5 - Light in weight, and moderately soft to the touch.
Flavor - 1.5/5 - The flavor is quite weak, and faint.  Could be bolder!
Nicotine - 2/5 - A little less than regular strength, so not as strong as I usually use (regular).
Flavor Longevity - 2/5 - Flavor didn't last too long, only about 30-40 minutes.
Average - 2/5 - I wanted to love this.  I feel like if everything was amped up - aroma, portion size, flavor presence, nicotine level, and flavor longevity - this would be an amazing product

Final Thoughts
Like I said above, I wanted to love this.  You can try it if you're a nicotine pouch fan, you may really enjoy it.  Because, it's something that isn't mint!  But, in my opinion, it needs a lot of tweaks to it.  If it was as bold as I wanted it to be, I'd use this full time, because I love the taste of cola, and rum!
