Epok Tropic Gold (X-Strong) - Review (Discontinued). 16 August 2020.

Not too long ago, I reviewed Epok Tropic Gold and Tropic Gold Strong, two white tobacco products sold in Switzerland. It looks as though a new one has broken onto the market, so today we're going to be talking about the new Epok Tropic Gold (X-Strong)!  And what better time than the summer for this one to come out?  The flavor description for this new addition says, "Extra strong moments feel better with flavour. Now you get it with mandarin, passion fruit and mango."  Each can weighs 16.8 grams and has 24 portions for 0.7 gram portions.  The nicotine content at X-Strong is 16mg/g (1.6%), which breaks down to 11.2mg/portion.

Now, there's a lot of terms out there for the "all white" category, such as "nicotine pouches", and "white tobacco". This can get confusing! Lyft, for example, is a nicotine pouch product, meaning it doesn't contain tobacco. Epok actually contains white tobacco. This is how they describe the production process for Epok: "Before the treatment, the carefully selected brown tobacco is prepared. In the next step tobacco is treated through a washing process in order to obtain white tobacco. This process lasts until the brown tobacco is completely cleaned into white tobacco. When the tobacco has its all white color, it’s refined with different and fresh flavors." So, while they may look similar, they are quite different.

When you open the can, the aroma that comes through is a tropical, fruity smell with a fresh presence to it. The portions are nice and slim, soft, and feel great up under the lip. With this one, there's a cooling presence under the lip, and a freshness to the flavor, but it's not minty, if that makes sense. The flavor is a nice, tropical taste. I pick up mango clearly, with a hint of passionfruit. It's mildly sweet, but not overdone. The nicotine strength on this one feels between strong and extra strong, and has a solid kick to it. The flavor lasts around 40-45 minutes on average!  I really enjoyed this one, especially with the warmer weather here.  It's a nice, tropical tasting snus!
