Zyn Deep Freeze (Nicotine Pouches) - Review (Discontinued). 8 February 2020

Swedish Match has launched a new Zyn product, Zyn Deep Freeze! This is a moist Zyn nicotine pouch product sold in Sweden, and isn't the same as the dry nicotine pouch product we see here in the US. If you're in the US, you can buy it online, just not locally. If you're new to this type of stuff, nicotine pouches are a growing category which are like snus, except they contain nicotine, but no tobacco. These are good for folks who may want to quit using tobacco, but still continue to enjoy nicotine. The flavor description for this one says it is a "slim, all white portion with elements of eucalyptus and menthol". Each can weighs 16.8g and has 21 portions, for 0.8g portions. The nicotine content is 16mg/g (1.6%), which puts it at 12.8mg/portion.

If you're not familiar with Zyn, here's a look inside the pouch. Again, this is a moist version, and not the same as the dry version sold in the US. Zyn is completely tobacco free, and contains nicotine, vegetable fiber and cellulose powder (E-460). While it may look like other white tobacco products, it doesn't actually contain tobacco. Everything else about it is similar to snus - the can, the portions, the way it feels in the lip, and how the nicotine releases. The only difference is the lack of tobacco in this one.

When you open the can, there is a present smell of menthol and eucalyptus. I think my wife said it best, she told me it smells like you opened a whole bag of cough drops. The portions come with a burn in the lip, which gives way to a gentle cooling presence. The portions are also slim, soft, and comfortable in the lip. The flavor is a big menthol and eucalyptus taste. It’s very present. The nicotine level feels to be between strong and extra strong and has a solid kick to it! I find the flavor lasts about 45-50 minutes on average.  I don't really use this flavor myself, except for when I'm sick.  But it'll be something nice to keep in the freezer for when I'm under the weather and need a cooling menthol taste with an extra kick of nicotine!  If you enjoy nicotine pouches and like the menthol/eucalyptus flavor, but want something with a higher nicotine content - you may love this one!
