Check out the new reviews of these products - Bergamot Wildberry is now Nordic Spirit Berry Citrus and Mint is now Nordic Spirit Smooth Mint!
The tobacco-free nicotine pouch category seems to be growing more and more. Both in the dry format (such as Swedish Match's Zyn NT), and the moist format, such as the other Zyn and Skruf's new SuperWhite. Now, Nordic Snus AB, makers of LD Snus, are entering this category with the new Nordic Spirit line! They described the new line by saying "Nordic Spirit tastes longer and provides a fast kick followed by a long-lasting, stable nicotine delivery. The soft and white portion bags also run less and do not color the saliva like traditional snus. Nordic Spirit comes in décor with a sense of Nordic wood design and Nordic design language."
As usual, I had to cut open a portion and look at what was inside. Here's a shot of Nordic Spirit (right) compared to another Nordic Snus product, LD Stark (left). When it comes to this product, Nordic Snus AB says Nordic Spirit is “a brand new all-white alternative with naturally extracted nicotine and refreshing flavors, completely tobacco-free. The clean white slim portions are less runny yet feel soft due to the natural plant fiber and gum-base composition giving fullness to the pouches.” You can see what's inside looks a lot like snus, but it's white and more finely ground.
Nordic Spirit (True White) Bergamot Wildberry
The flavor description for this one says, "The citrus from the bergamot is complemented by notes of sweet and tangy wildberry for a truly refreshing experience." This product come with a 13 gram can containing 20 slim portions, at 0.65 grams each. There is a nicotine content of 9mg/portion, which means the total nicotine content is probably around 13-14mg/g.
When you open the can, the aroma that greets you is bergamot, but with a little orange smell as well. The berry aroma isn’t too sweet, and has a little tartness to it. It reminds me of cranberry, and a little of raspberry. The portions are slightly dry to the touch but have a soft portion material. They are quite comfortable in the lip, as well! In the taste, I notice the berry more than the citrus. It’s lightly sweet in character, and a little tart. There’s also a gentle citrus taste in the background that reminds me of bergamot, but a little orange, too. The nicotine strength feels to be at the regular level and reminds me of an 8mg/g Swedish Snus. The flavor also lasts a good amount of time; I’ve found I can keep these in for 45 to 55 minutes.
Nordic Spirit (True White) Mint
The flavor description for this one says, "The right amount of crisp menthol, together with sweeter peppermint and a bit of salt from licorice gives a perfect balanced mint taste." This product come with a 13 gram can containing 20 slim portions, at 0.65 grams each. There is a nicotine content of 9mg/portion, which means the total nicotine content is probably around 13-14mg/g.
When you open the can, the aroma that greets you is a light menthol character and a mildly sweet smell of peppermint. The portions are slightly dry, but are still soft the touch. In the lip, I notice a mild cooling presence and a freshness throughout my mouth. The taste is a gentle, lightly sweet taste of peppermint and a hint of menthol. I also notice a mild taste of licorice in the background, as well. Usually, I'm not a fan of mixing licorice with mint, but I notice it in a really small amount in this and it's actually a nice compliment to the fresh mint flavor. The nicotine, like the other one, feels to be at the normal strength level and is comparable to an 8mg/g Swedish Snus. The flavor also lasts around 45-55 minutes.
As I always say when I review products like this, these aren't something that I would personally use because I love tobacco. But there are a lot of people who want to quit smoking or quit tobacco, but not quit nicotine. I'm glad products like this exist for that demographic, because they can continue to enjoy nicotine, have a variety of flavors, and quit tobacco if they so choose. If you're in that group, these are definitely worth a try!

I hope JTI gets their licensing straightened out so I can order these again from the US. I managed to get in under the wire and get 5 cans, but they're no longer available for now outside Sweden & Norway. 😕
