Thunder 10 Year Edition (Chew Bags) - Review (Discontinued). 25 September 2017.

Back in June of 2015 I reviewed Thunder 10 Year Anniversary Edition Snus, and I found it to be one of the best V2 Tobacco products I ever tried. I was browsing Northerner.com and discovered that V2 had released these products in the chew bag format as Thunder 10 Chew Bags. Needless to say, I was very excited to try these! The flavor description for these says, "Thunder 10 Chew is made from single barrel tobacco aged in oak casks. This is the real deal no flavoring added." This product comes in a 14.3 gram can with 22 portions for 0.65 grams per portion. The nicotine content is listed as 22mg/g (2.2%), which breaks down to 14.3mg/portion. When it comes to V2’s chew bags, they heat and moisten the tobacco leaves with steam so they can be cut into small pieces, usually between 5-50mm and a width of 0.6-0.8mm. The bags they use are made with a thicker weave paper so they can be chewed to release flavor and nicotine. These products are different from others because they’re cut tobacco in bags, whereas others are made from spun tobacco.

When you open the can you'll notice a difference with these pouches, as the Thunder 10 Year snus was an original portion, and these are white portion format. The aroma is very much the same - a raw, natural, robust tobacco smell. It's a little milder in this version, however. The pouches are drier than you average white portion snus product, so the flavor and nicotine releases a bit slower, but the flavor lasts longer! The taste is very much like the Thunder 10 Year snus, but it comes through in a milder way. The taste is very woody, with oak notes peeking through the tobacco flavor. The tobacco taste is rich well rounded, and earthy, but milder than the snus version of Thunder 10. It's a great taste if you're a tobacco lover!  The flavor also lasts a good amount of time; I've found I can enjoy this snus for up to an hour and a half!  The nicotine content feels to be strong, but not extra strong.  I do notice a nice, extra kick from this product but it isn't too in your face.  It's pleasant and enjoyable.

If you're someone who enjoys tobacco flavors, this is a must try.  It's a great tasting product with a long lasting flavor and a strong nicotine kick.
