Swedish Match News - 27 August 2012

Announced today, there will be a new addition to the Nick & Johnny line - known as Nick & Johnny: Black Tarmac. I know, weird name. As soon as I read it I thought of pavement. Let's hope it doesn't taste like that. I'm not the biggest fan of licorice, but it's pretty popular in Sweden, so I'd imagine a strong licorice will do pretty well. The flavor description is listed as, "A full-bodied and smoky tobacco taste with distinct notes of licorice, salmiak and tar, along with hints of dried fruit." This one will be weighing in at 15.4mg of nicotine per portion. Look for it to be available around the 1st of October.

The General line - everything except for Onyx and Long - will be getting a makeover. I figured this was eventually coming with the new logo being used on more products. I think it's a good thing, the old logo needed a refresher, and the new logos used on the Long Portion cans is really modern and sleek, but traditional. Look for those new cans to coming in early September.

In other news, General Green Harvest is ending distribution around the 1st of October, so if you dig the organic scene and were into this, make sure and buy up whatever you can. Swedish Match is also bringing back Catch Collection Lafayette Street, which a bunch of people really liked, so look for that to come soon as well.

  1. Distinct notes of tar? That surely means something completely different to the Swedes than it does to us Amurkins.
