Jakobsson's Fläder - Review (Discontinued). 19 May 2009.

NOTE:  This product has been discontinued and is no longer for sale.

This was one of the very first snus products I ordered and quickly became a favorite of mine.  To this day, I still enjoy using this one, especially in the spring/summer.  Now, if you're new to snus, or an American like me, you're probably asking yourself what "fläder" is. This snus was originally called "Gotlandssnus Green" or "Gotland's Green" and is a snus flavored with elderflower, or, fläder. The product description says, "A Jakobsson's snus with the popular flavor combination of tobacco and elder. Notes of green apples are also present and adds an extra freshness to this snus."  This snus comes in a 20 gram can with 20 portions for 1 gram portions. The nicotine content is 10mg/g (1.0%) which easily breaks down to 10mg/portion!

When you open the can, the aroma that comes through resembles green apple but with a touch of sweetness. There's also a very light floral presence to it, almost reminding me of honeysuckle.  I'm a big fan of the Gotlandssnus portions. They seem to fall right between original portions and white portions. They have the quick flavor release that I love about original portions, but the long last flavor that I love about white portions!  The flavor is where this snus really shines.  I pick up a light taste of apple and a little bit of pear.  The taste is mildly sweet, but not over the top sweet. There's a very mild taste of tobacco in the background which is complemented by light herbal notes and a sweet floral presence that, again, reminds me of honeysuckle.   It's a great tasting snus!  The nicotine strength, though a little stronger than regular strength, still feels to be right at that regular strength level.  The flavor is also quite long lasting; I've found I can enjoy this product for up to an hour!

This snus is one of my favorites and I would definitely suggest anyone who loves good Swedish Snus to give it a try!
