Today, I have something fun to check out, a chew bag product sold on
MrSnuff.com. This is GN Tobacco's Oden's 59 Extra Stark Original Portion! I've been a big fan of Oden's 59 (Cinnamon) flavor profile, and have
reviewed it many times over the years. But, like many GN Tobacco products, it's one you can't really find anymore. This is the first time I've seen their 59 flavor available in years. So, I had to get my hands on it! The
flavor description for this one says, "
Strong and aromatic chewing tobacco blend with a well balanced cinnamon flavor that doesn't overpower the classic tobacco flavor". Each can weighs 18 grams and contains 18 chew bags, at 1 gram each. The nicotine content is 18mg/g, which breaks down to 18mg per pouch.
For those who may not be aware of what "chew bags" are, these are products that are sold in places where snus legally can't be sold. They're pasteurized, and made the same way as snus, but have cut tobacco instead of ground, and slightly thicker portions for "chewing". However, I use them the same way as I use snus and don't notice much of a difference between these and regular snus.
When I open the can, the aroma that I pick up is a present touch of cinnamon. It's lightly sweet, and not overly spicy. There is a mild base tobacco behind it, as well. The portions are moderately moist, and have a nice feel under the lip. They're quite plump, which is nice! The flavor on this one is just as tasty as I remember. The cinnamon and tobacco flavors work very well together. Man, I missed this one. It's lightly sweet, and really not that spicy at all. Odd, because I seem to remember it having a slight spice to it, perhaps with the tobacco. But, regardless, that doesn't take away from the experience. In the strength, it feels to be about the strong level. It has a little extra kick, but not too crazy. The flavor lasts quite a while, usually a little over 45 minutes, on average.
Rating and Final Thoughts
I missed this one, it was really nice to have it again. I'm definitely gonna have to grab some more. I miss the old version, which had a slightly different/more spicy taste to it, but this one is still pretty flavorful. I rated it at 3.67/5. If you haven't had it before, definitely give it a go sometime!
