Granit Vit (White) Portion - Review. 10 November 2014.

I feel like I've reviewed this product quite a few times.  Going back through my photos, this is the 4th design of this snus I've reviewed.  Also, the last time it changed they added the FlexLid to the can, which is a catch lid that expands as you add more used portions to it.  That has remained with this design change, as well.  If you're not familiar with Granit, it's a budget snus from Fiedler and Lundgren. It's grown in popularity the past several years, though I myself prefer the LD line for budget alternatives. But, Granit has quite a following, so I'm going to give it a new review!

The flavor description for this snus says, "Classic snus with traditional tobacco flavor".  This product comes in a 17.6 gram can with 22 portions for 0.8 gram portions. The nicotine content is 10mg/g (1.0%), which actually breaks down to 8mg/portion, or regular strength.

When you open a can of Granit Vit, the aroma is the straightforward traditional Swedish Snus smell of citrus and bergamot.  There's also a hint of pepper in the background.  The portions are soft to the touch and feel comfortable in the lip. The taste of this snus is very much the traditional Swedish Snus flavor of bergamot.  You can also detect a mild tobacco character in the background and a little bit of pepper.  The bottom of the can lists lakrits and salmiak as ingredients, but I don't notice that in the flavor.  The taste lasts a good amount of time; I've found I can enjoy this snus for up to an hour/hour and fifteen minutes.  The nicotine strength feels to be about regular strength.  Though it's listed as 10mg/g (1.0%), it is only 8mg/portion, so regular strength.

Rating and Final Thoughts

As far as Granit goes, it's pretty "meh" for me.  I gave it a 3.42 out of 5, so it falls in the middle of the road as far as my rankings usually go.  It's not bad, but not great.  It's just average.  As far as budget options go, I much prefer the LD line, myself.  But this one isn't too bad.  If you're into traditional snus and want to find a way to save a few bucks, this is a good line to check out.
